MAC: Bronze Everyday Collection
Release Date: April 7, 2011
International Release Date: April, 2011
Summer is almost here and it is time to get your bronze on. Thanks to MAC’s collection Bronze Everyday, we can get the all over glow of sun-kissed skin without the risk of exposure to sun or tanning beds.
In the era we live in knowing all we know about the importance of taking care of our skin and the damage sun can do to it, I am so grateful for MAC. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am not naturally bronzed and need all of the help I can get. This collection provides bronzing products for every area of the body from head to toe.
The Bronzing Powder comes in four shades to cover every skin tone. Two of the shades, Golden and Bronze, offer a shimmer for those of you who like a little extra sparkle in your skin.
I think I am most excited about the Skinsheen Leg Spray. My legs are somehow a lighter color than the rest of my body. The Skinsheen Leg Spray is supposed to go on evenly and not leave those obnoxious orange streaks all over from application. While this product has been available in the past, I have never used it so I am looking forward to trying it.
All five of the products in this collection are either permanent or will be made permanent as of the collection release date. It is always nice to know if you love a product it won’t be going anywhere.
Advanced Laser Lipolysis – The Benefits and Risks
If you live in the UK and you’ve ever been interested in laser liposuction (aka Advanced Laser Lipolysis), you are in luck. MYA clinics are now offering the procedure. It is one of the safest (and fastest growing) cosmetic surgery options available to date. Here are a few of its benefits over other lipo treatments.
Unlike other forms of liposuction, advanced laser lipolysis offers quite a few benefits to potential patients. First off, some traditional and recent lipo procedures like ‘Smart Lipo’ and Liposonix do not actually remove any fat. They only break down the fat – without actually removing it.
Laser liposuction is less invasive and unlike tradtional surgical liposuction, laser lipolysis only requires local anesthesia. No overnight stay is required and you can return to exercising within a week or two. (With many cosmetic procedures you have to wait a month or more.) Other normal activities can be resumed within a day or two and you can even return to work the next day. With traditional surgical lipo, soreness, bruising, swelling and pain last several weeks – much longer than with laser lipolysis. You also have to wear a compression garment for 6-8 weeks with traditional lipo instead of just 2 weeks with laser lipo.
Many women take good care of their bodies, but, due to genetics or body type, have a difficult time toning up or slimming down certain areas. This procedure is ideal for smaller areas or for women who just want to enhance their body. Smaller areas like the ankles, the knees, the arms/bra strap area or the neck are very common as are the typical areas like thighs, the stomach and the love handles. If you are a woman who is generally satisfied with her body, but wants to just improve one or two smaller areas, advanced laser lipolysis is a great option.
Any cosmetic procedure does carry some risks. Discuss both the benefits and risks with your doctor prior to getting anything done. Many considerations will depend upon your individual situation. Common risks include swelling, bruising, bleeding and infection, among others.
Of course, no lipo or cosmetic treatment, will take the place of the confidence you will feel from a healthy lifestyle. Each of us should strive to have the discipline to develop habits of eating healthy and exercising regularly. Doing these will help you look and feel your best. Cosmetic treatments like laser lipolysis are best for individuals who are already have healthy lifestyles.
In most cases, someone who doesn’t take any initiative to exercise or keep their body healthy would be better off to consider starting with a change of lifestyle before looking for a body image solution from a cosmetic procedure. But, if you are already well on your way to sculpting the body you want, advanced laser lipolysis can help you beat genetics and take care of those last little stubborn areas that stand in the way of you and the body you’ve always wanted.
MAC: Cremeblend Blush Collection
Release Date: March 3rd, 2011
International Release Date: March, 2011
MAC is zeroing on blush with their collection Cremeblend Blush. Powder blush wearers now how another option since this blush is a cream. This product is one of MAC’s permanents so if you like it, you’ll always be able to get it.
This collection is one of MAC’s smaller collections since it focuses only on blush. There are six different color options ranging from mauves, to corals, to browns. Although the collection isn’t very big, it appears that the colors have pretty much covered the bases for all of the basic skin tones out there. So if you are interested in trying a Cremeblend blush, you should be able to find a color that suits you.
It’s a creamy blush, hence the name Cremeblend. The blush offers a unique blend of ingredients to create a cream blush to blend on rather than a powder blush. My educated guess is that the blush should be longer lasting because cream tends to bond to the skin better than a powder.
I am not a big blush wearer, but I do recognize that it has its time and place. When the occasion calls for it, blush can be an absolute necessity. Up until now, I’ve only ever used powder blushes. I will be curious to see if I like the cream blush better.
For every contour control freak, for every persistent perfectionist comes this wondrous way to play with blush that gives you the most magnificent flexibility you’ve ever had…Starts creamy, stays creamy and proves that powder is NOT your only prerogative. Make powdery a thing of the past.

MAC: Jeanius Collection
Release Date: March 3rd, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011
MAC’s spring line is starting out fierce with the new collection Jeanius. The collection offers products from eyeshadow, liner, and blush, to lipstick, lipglass, and nail lacquer. As implied by the name, this collection speaks to the denim lover in each of us.
After first glance at all of the products offered in this collection it doesn’t necessarily strike me as a spring collection. When I think of spring, I think of soft pinks, purples and even yellows. This collection does offer some of those, but it mainly includes a lot of grays and blues. I love that the collection name so specifically fits the color scheme. And you do have to hand it to MAC for the way they play on words. At least the name of the collection is genius even if the complete color scheme is not.
And as pretty as I think some of the colors look, I am not exactly sure how they will look on. For me, it takes the right outfit and the right venue to want to wear blue eye makeup. If blues aren’t done right, they just look cheap to me. But MAC does often get it right so I am willing to give this collection a chance.
Some of the nail lacquer colors are particularly interesting to me. I find that I get more into nail polish at the change of the seasons. Spring truly brings out my desire to have my toes nicely painted and my fingers matching in style. Fray-to-order looks like it will be a really pretty color. It is a white matte with soft pink duochrome pearl.
When my nails are painted, I like to have my lip color match when appropriate. I am not sure that any of these lip colors offered in this collection match completely, but I think that the lipstick shade Pretty Please might compliment the nail color nicely. I am excited to try it.
What do you think MAC customers? Is there something in this collection you are especially excited about? Or is this a collection that won’t put a dent in your wallet?
Jeanius is a celebration of the journey America made a national obsession. M∙A∙C keeps up with a Jeanius collection of moody blues and indigo ink, the quantum of modern cool, with four new limited-life denimized Eye Shadows, Lipglass, Blush and Biker Blue Nail Lacquer. Completely riveting.

MAC: Sheen Supreme Lipstick Collection
Release Date: March 3rd, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011
There’s nothing quite as worldly cinematic as a Lipstick. Imagine no muddy undertones, gliding in pearl or creme finish, moisturizing with no sticky/tacky feel. It’s a new medium, with M∙A∙C in the lead. Sheen Supreme is retro/modern and devastatingly chic.
There are very few things as sensual as lips. MAC has taken an ever deeper interest in helping to make your lips look their best with their new collection Sheen Supreme Lipstick. This lipstick is new and unique. From its texture to its finish, this lipstick stands supreme.
When MAC offers a collection like this one that is so centered on what area of beauty, you are sure to find a color that will work for you. With this collection, there is a definitely a color for every skin tone. I like collections like this some times that are focused and it’s simply a matter of picking your favorite color.
These lipsticks are a new product. One of the things I least like about lipsticks are they tendency they have to dry, cake, and crack. When the lipstick does this, it usually means it is having the same effect on your lips. We all want soft, kissable lips. The Sheen Supreme Lipstick has a moisturizing effect to help keep your lips from drying and cracking. Lipstick looks best when applied to smooth soft lips so if the lipstick can help them be smooth and soft, I would definitely want that product.
The finish of the lipstick is also very sleek. You can get the lipstick in a pearl or crème finish. Depending on the color and the look you are going for, you may want some of each. I tend to like pinks in my lipstick, but I also want to try “Can’t Resist”. It is a golden purplish red and it sounds beautiful. I can’t wait to try the lipstick and find out if the product is as unique and refreshingly modern as MAC says it is.

MAC: Viva Glam Gaga II Collection
Release Date: February 17th, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011
No Bad Romance here. We’re unveiling a hot new shade inspired by Lady Gaga and her passions, in both Lipstick and Lipglass. And by now you know every cent from the sale of M∙A∙C VIVA GLAM goes toward the M∙A∙C AIDS Fund.
MAC has released another addition to their Viva Glam line with Viva Glam Gaga II. Promoted and inspired by Lada Gaga it offers a lipstick and a lipglass color. As always, all proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund.
Whether you are a fan of Lada Gaga or not, these two products might be worth your time and money. Both the lipstick and lipglass are considered beige or nude tones. At first I thought, “Yuck!”. I usually think of nude colors as background tones. Like me, you might not always think of beige and nude colors as something that will stand out. These colors break the mold and make a statement. They are getting rave reviews as well. Apparently, they aren’t your typical nude tones.
While I really like both the Lipstick and Lipglass on their own, I also think MAC has brilliantly paired them together. The two really compliment each other giving just a little extra wow-factor. Because the money goes to charity, the pro discount is not available for this collection. I am always a fan of anything that results in money to much needed charities, but it’s nice if what you buy with the money for charity is a great product. What do you think MAC fans?
Viva Glam Gaga II Nude—A light warm beige with an amplified finish
Viva Glam Gaga II Nude—Pale milky-beige
MAC: Future Face Collection
Release Date: February 17th, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011
M∙A∙C forges ahead with a three-in-one force: Powder, Foundation and Tinted Moisturizer all together. A broad, all-inclusive shade range means M∙A∙C Artists can cover everybody, one beautiful conquest at a time. Call your clients most in need of convincing, and watch what happens!
MAC’s newest collection not only focuses on your face now but it is all about the future as well. If we aren’t doing all we can to take care of our beauty and preserve it for the future, we’ll be disappointed when that time comes. The collection “Future Face” combines skin care products and makeup products that are beautiful and healthy for the skin. The combination will leave you looking great now with flawless skin, and great in the future with flawless skin free from the aging affects of daily life.
The collection is somewhat small compared to many other collections that MAC releases. There is a pressed powder, a liquid foundation, the return of the tinted moisturizer and a couple of brushes. I love collections like this where the whole thing really does go together. I want to buy one of everything so I have the complete “set” to moisturize and keep my face looking great now and for the future.
Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is the new product. Is it makeup or skin care; that is the question? It offers sheer to medium coverage depending on what you want or need. The powder is supposed to nourish as it covers allowing your face to look beautiful now while still preserving the beauty for the future. The powder has a very smooth finish so you there won’t be people paying attention to the dry powder look as the day goes on into the night.
Another great thing about this new Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is that it can either be used all by itself or with other products as well. You can apply it over the liquid foundation or in addition to the moisture tint. It’s easy to carry around in your purse for touch ups through the day. So how is the powder so healthy for your skin? It has a unique blend of botanicals including Safflower Seed Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil and Lecithin. The powder is also very versatile since it is okay for all skin types.
The Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder is getting a lot of attention. It could quite possibly revolutionize the way most of us think about pressed powders. I know that I am very excited about it. I have always liked the convenience and ease of a pressed powder, but haven’t always liked the way it made my skin look. If it does what it says it does, I am very excited to try it. What do you think? Is the Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder everything it sets out to be?
I’ve listed the complete collection below including the MAC brushes offered. I’ve found you can never go wrong with a MAC brush. Each of these products are joining MAC’s permanents.

MAC: Wonder Woman Collection
Release Date: February 10th, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011
MAC has amped up their superhuman forces with their latest collection, Wonder Woman. The collection is a very big one complete with accessories and online exclusives. The products offered include everything from lipsticks to eyeshadow quads, from lashes to nail lacquer.
When I first heard this collection was going to be be released, I was really excited. Wonder Woman is one of the first well-known female superheros. She was one of my superheros. What better icon is there to speak to the strong, capable woman in each of us?
Once I started to review the collection, my feelings started changing. My first thoughts were, “How fun!” But unfortunately, my thoughts didn’t go much beyond that, at least not in positive terms. Even though I want my makeup to be fun and playful, I think this collection might be a little too much for even me. As I reviewed the colors, I found myself envisioning me in this year’s Halloween costume as Wonder Woman. All of the products would definitely come in handy then.
Even many of the names went a little over the top for me. I usually love the intelligent names that MAC comes up with for their products. They fit the products so well. I guess in this case, MAC still held true to their M.O. The names do fit the products. Names like Pink Power, Spinning Transformation, Deep Truth; Again, it’s all just a little too juvenile for me.
The packaging is another thing to make mention of. Usually, MAC packaging is so perfect. This packaging just makes me think of saving my pennies to buy that one toy I wanted at the local drug store. I have seen many mixed reviews on the packaging. Many think it looks too tacky—especially for MAC. Others feel it is reminiscent of their childhood. I think I have to agree with those who feel it’s just a little too tacky.
I think the only positive note for me in this collection is that it does offer lipstick and nail lacquer in true red colors. Every once in a while, an occasion or outfit will call for a nice red lipstick and nail polish. I might consider adding one or both of these products to my personal collection.
I will also say that the collection does take me back to my childhood. My childhood is a place with many fond memories. I remember how terrible I was at putting on makeup and how I wanted to look sophisticated and beautiful. I still want to look sophisticated and beautiful and for me, this collection just isn’t doing the trick. What do you think? Are any of these products your favorite picks?
M∙A∙C Spring Colour 2011 is the feminine force that saves the day! No nemesis can match her super-sized Mineralize Skinfinish, Eye Shadows, Lipsticks and Powder Blush for this transformation! Our Artists work wonders every day – now with the help of one of the most exciting feminist figures…

MAC: Finally Flawless Collection
Release Date: January 13th, 2011
International Release Date: January 2011
MAC is all about helping us be the most beautiful we can be. Their collection Finally Flawless is no exception. This collection is a small one offering a Mineralize Foundation and a brush.
I love when I get reminders that beauty starts with the basics—if you have a great foundation that allows your skin to look smooth and beautiful, everything else is just icing on the the cake.
This foundation is unique in that it uses a blend of minerals and water. Since our skin is made up almost entirely of minerals and water, the foundation is helping to put back into our skin what everyday life takes out. It has a nourishing effect on the skin. It helps to reduce the appearance of pores and other skin blemishes because it moisturizes so well avoiding the flaky effect as well. It is also a gel based foundation which makes it ideal for normal to dry skin.
Makeup artist love this product. It was used in the Spring/Summer 2010 fashion shows of; BCBG, Carolina Herrera and Baby Phat. But you don’t have to be a model to enjoy the benefits of this product. It is great for any woman who wants to look her best at the office or throughout the evening. It is long lasting up to eight hours which makes this a dream for anyone who is on the go constantly needing to look their best.
The collection offers brush 130 for help in application. The brush can help you get a smooth application especially around the eyes where your skin is most delicate. Neither the brush nor the foundation are new to MAC. This collection is a relaunch of Mineralize Foundation SPF 15. The foundation is permanent to the MAC products.
Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 has the exclusive formula – micronized and coated pigments improve blendability, maintain colour purity with SPF 15, and our liquid mineral ferment complex adds nutrients. Light diffusing optics minimize the visibility of imperfections – FINALLY Flawless!

MAC & Mickey Contractor Collection
Release Date: January 6th, 2011
As M·A·C’s Director of Makeup Artistry for India, Mickey has mentored Artists around the world. This collection of his musts is about natural skin and total performance. Foundation, Concealer, goddess-gorgeous eye shades and his favorite brushes to star in your own Bollywood hit.
Mickey Contractor is the Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Cosmetics in India. He is known for his exquisite eye and beautiful taste. Have you ever seen how beautiful the makeup is on the Bollywood movie stars? Mickey Contractor has been the makeup artist for many of the famous who can be seen in the Bollywood spotlight. MAC has teamed up with his genius to bring us the MAC & Mickey Contractor Collection.
Why is it if something is harder to get, I just want it more? Please tell me I am not alone in this. The MAC & Mickey Contractor collection is a limited in-store launch. At this point, it looks like only 22 of MAC’s top stores will be carrying the collection.
Some of the collection is a little bit disappointing to me in that there are a lot of repromotes. I am always more curious to see what MAC is coming out with that is new. It is okay to have one or two repromotes in a large collection, but I feel like this one has just a few too many. That being said, there is one repromote I am very excited for.
I love the Prep + Prime Finishing Powder. It gives the skin such a great glow with an overall finished look. I especially like to wear it on days when I don’t wear as much makeup. It can just give the clean, smooth, youthful look all over. I have seen several reviews that state it is not the best for someone with sensitive skin so that is definitely something to take into consideration if you think you might want this product.
The colors and eyeshadows have quite a bit of new material with some permanents intermixed. The eyeshadow quad does look like something I’d like to have in my makeup bag. The colors are the typical colors I would use, but you can tell that when used together, the four colors work really well to compliment one another.
Overall, I think the collection has a lot to offer, but I feel it lacking. I don’t even know what exactly I was hoping for, just more when it comes to the combined genius of Mickey Contractor and MAC. What catches your eye about this collection? Did you want more or is it just what you expected from the notorious Mickey Contractor and MAC?
