Ready, Set, Go!
Get yourself to the nearest Macy’s, Nordstrom or Bloomingdales! Tomorrow, January 20th, department stores across the country will be giving away free makeup, perfume, cologne and beauty products from Chanel, MAC, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Prescriptives, Clinique and more. The giveaway is part of a class-action lawsuit settlement which claimed that various department stores were violating antitrust laws by price fixing.
Millions of shoppers will be eligible to receive up to $25 in free products on a first-come, first-served, basis from certain department stores. The following stores were named in the lawsuit: Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Filene’s, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. All of the department stores named in the suit have denied any wrongdoing, but have agreed to settle the case by distributing a total of $175 million free products to consumers.
Anyone who purchased a given brand of makeup, moisturizer, or fragrance product at one of those department stores between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003 is eligible to participate on January 20th. You won’t need a receipt, but you will need to sign a form stating that you purchased one or more of the products between the specified dates. You can view a complete list of products you can choose from, and further details, at www.cosmeticssettlement.com.
