MAC: Spring Colour Forecast Collection
Release Date: February 11, 2010
The MAC Spring Colour Forecast is a four-part collection of colors for spring 2010. Yes, that’s right: four parts. All four will be released on the same day. This collection is so big it’s almost embarrassing. If you don’t have self-control, stay away from your MAC Cosmetics counter because even the pickiest makeup wearers are bound to find several things they can’t live without. The collections are dominated by pretty pastel colors typically associated with spring such as pinks and purples with some coral and bronze thrown in for good measure. There are also two new products making their debut.
Blush ombres are very large blushes that feature different colors blending into one another. For example, Azalea Blossom starts out with lilac at the top which slowly fades into a candy pink. You are supposed to swirl your brush around the compact to mix the colors together, although it’s conceivable that you could control the ratio somewhat with the right application technique. The Ripe Peach blush ombre is the only one that looks very wearable for most people- it’s a peach and pink combination that blends together to make cheeks look coral.
Crush metal pigments are a new twist on the traditional MAC pigments. They are sold in sets of four stackable jars that are reminiscent of sample jars. The formulation is slightly chunkier and much more metallic than their predecessors. Stacked 1 features pinks and purples whereas Stacked 2 consists of neutral bronze colors. The individual colors aren’t named and none of them are exact matches for any existing pigments. As the name implies, these are quite metallic so definitely skip these if mattes look best on you.
MAC has also redesigned their eyeshadow quad packaging in time for this collection, opting for a clear lid with magnetic closure. There are also a number of pink lipsticks here such as the shimmery hot magenta Pink Burst and the more subdued Phlox. Complementary Lipglasses and eye shadows round out the collection.

MAC: High Tea Collection
Release Date: December 26th, 2004
The MAC High Tea Collection is packed full of new products. You’ll be able to glam up from head to toe in a sophisticated way. It has a little of something from nail color to mascara and everything in between.
I am a big fan of soft pink colors and this collection has plenty of them. The frosty pinks offer a soft elegant look, but if you want to make a bolder statement for the winter, there are plenty of reds and greens with a bit of gold, silver, and bronze.
I don’t always bother investing in nail polish, but I just might have to try the new Eccentrici-tea simply because the name is beyond clever, even for MAC. I can’t wait to see what a pink nail polish with green pearl accents will look like.
This collection has a lot to offer, maybe even a little too much. I personally like it when the collection is just a little more focused, but maybe that’s just because the big ones end up hurting my wallet too much! Anyhow review to complete product list to pick your favorites.

MAC: Adorn Collection
Release Date: October 21th, 2004
Adorn yourself with beauty and be adored with MAC’s new collection Adorn. It is packed full of products, many of which are limited edition. The pigments, mascara, lip pencils, and the lipglass color Courting Rose are the only products that aren’t limited edition.
I’ve never tried any of MAC’s Shimmersouffles, but they look interesting. They are described as a light glittery powder to offer a sparkle effect. I think it would be a fun product to try for the winter time to give just a hint of shimmer to your holiday fun. Of all of the products offered, the one luckiest to carry the collection name is a shimmersouffle. That might say something. “Adorn” is light beige tan with glitter. I just might have to try it out.
I am not usually drawn to the nail lacquers, but there is something about “Violet Femme” that makes me want to try it. Maybe it is just the fact that the name is so powerful. Or maybe it is the purple amethyst color it promises. Either way, I think I am sufficiently sold on it.
There are five different eyeshadows offered in this collection. Honestly, none of them look that great to me. The colors are deep brownish red, bright purple, light tan, light greenish blue, and off-white. Maybe some of the colors will work well for some of you, but they aren’t great options for me.
Overall, there seems to be a little something to please everyone. Take a look at all of the products being offered and pick out your favorites.

MAC: Pure Collection
Release Date: March 1999
MAC’s Pure Collection presents some gorgeous, ethereal-like shades that seem to reflect the delicate chill of early Spring – perfect for a March limited edition collection release.
This collection will be available while supplies last. But don’t fret; some of the shades are permanent shades in the MAC Cosmetics regularly available shade list. Hush and Vex eyeshadow will be available in the future, so don’t stress it when considering whether to purchase these colors.
Speaking of Hush, this eyeshadow is a gorgeous option to use a highlight color for any eye makeup look using cool colors. Hush is a soft, pinky peach shade. To me, it looks mostly like a frosty pale pink with a bit of added warmth to it (it leans more to the pinky peach side as opposed to the pinky purplish side like many other pale pink shades). I like to use Hush as my final eyeshadow color just below the brow to highlight the brow bone. I also blend in a little in the middle of my eyelid after I’ve applied my other eyeshadow shades. This gives a nice sheen to my look and acts as a highlighter for areas where I want light to reflect. The shade has a frost finish, so in my opinion, you don’t want to over do it with this shade. A little goes a long way.
The same can be said for the Cream Colour Base in Hush. It makes an excellent facial highlighter. In face, all of the Cream Color Bases from Pure are excellent choices if you want to create an iridescent sheen finish for your skin.
With gentle overlays of frost, sheer washes of cold color, iridescent glows, the palest of pastels and winter-turned-spring veils of color, this MAC collection captures the essence of any early Spring chill. The entire collection is gorgeous and perfectly on trend for the upcoming 1999 Spring season.
