Dramatic, daring Lashes have been a chic and urbane part of the modern Artist’s persona since Edie and friends made it all happen Downtown, on block-print canvas or grainy 16-millimetre film. Multi-media, counter-culture, the ultimate cool. In The Studio is the epitome of the look updated, featuring new Studio Fix Lash in Black Fix or Studio Brown, with the latest thermoplastic synth-rubber moulded brush, designed to kill clump as it separates lashes. The perfect complement? Studio Fix Powder, a powder and foundation-in-one, combining complete coverage with ease of application, goes on dry with a matte, velvety texture. Silica keeps the matte flat and absorbs oil, and talc smoothes it out. Go for the bold stroke, as they do In The Studio.
MAC In the Studio is a very small collection that features Studio Fix Lash and Studio Fix Powder. Absent is the lavish launch and attention-drawing publicity of most MAC collections. That doesn’t minimize the importance of this collection, however. It’s not clever or cute but it does deliver very useful and well-made products.
Studio Fix Lash is the newest mascara in MAC’s line and will become part of the permanent collection. What sets it apart is a rubber brush like the one found on YSL Everlong. The official writeup from MAC claims this mascara won’t clump. I’m always skeptical of such promises because mascara always tends to clump on me after a while. After trying the Studio Fix Lash in Black Fix, I’m pleased to say that this product really does deliver. It only clumped slightly but it was nothing my metal lash comb couldn’t fix. It does separate well and lengthen but the look is fairly natural. This won’t give you dramatic lashes that look fake but gives lashes plenty of oomph for every day.
Once again, this is a very small collection. Besides the Studio Fix Lash, there is only one other item: Studio Fix Powder. This is a foundation and powder in one. It applies like a powder but has more coverage and gives a matte finish. It gives great coverage but I found that it looks even better when applied with a kabuki brush. Girls with oily skin are going to love the finish of this and its convenience- the matte finish means you don’t have to use a separate powder to set it like other foundations. The best part is that you won’t have to be that girl who keeps pulling out her mirror to check her makeup because this foundation is designed to last for up to eight hours.
Black Fix – Black
Studio Brown – Brown
