MAC: Wonder Woman Collection

Release Date: February 10th, 2011
International Release Date: March 2011

MAC has amped up their superhuman forces with their latest collection, Wonder Woman. The collection is a very big one complete with accessories and online exclusives. The products offered include everything from lipsticks to eyeshadow quads, from lashes to nail lacquer.

When I first heard this collection was going to be be released, I was really excited. Wonder Woman is one of the first well-known female superheros. She was one of my superheros. What better icon is there to speak to the strong, capable woman in each of us?

Once I started to review the collection, my feelings started changing. My first thoughts were, “How fun!” But unfortunately, my thoughts didn’t go much beyond that, at least not in positive terms. Even though I want my makeup to be fun and playful, I think this collection might be a little too much for even me. As I reviewed the colors, I found myself envisioning me in this year’s Halloween costume as Wonder Woman. All of the products would definitely come in handy then.

Even many of the names went a little over the top for me. I usually love the intelligent names that MAC comes up with for their products. They fit the products so well. I guess in this case, MAC still held true to their M.O. The names do fit the products. Names like Pink Power, Spinning Transformation, Deep Truth; Again, it’s all just a little too juvenile for me.

The packaging is another thing to make mention of. Usually, MAC packaging is so perfect. This packaging just makes me think of saving my pennies to buy that one toy I wanted at the local drug store. I have seen many mixed reviews on the packaging. Many think it looks too tacky—especially for MAC. Others feel it is reminiscent of their childhood. I think I have to agree with those who feel it’s just a little too tacky.

I think the only positive note for me in this collection is that it does offer lipstick and nail lacquer in true red colors. Every once in a while, an occasion or outfit will call for a nice red lipstick and nail polish. I might consider adding one or both of these products to my personal collection.

I will also say that the collection does take me back to my childhood. My childhood is a place with many fond memories. I remember how terrible I was at putting on makeup and how I wanted to look sophisticated and beautiful. I still want to look sophisticated and beautiful and for me, this collection just isn’t doing the trick. What do you think? Are any of these products your favorite picks?

Glossy images of leggy, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall -of-Fame uber-models are as riveting, ravishing – and relevant – as ever. MAC: Sugar Sweet Collection

Release Date: March 19th, 2009

Sugar and spice and everything nice—MAC is delivering once again with its new collection titled Sugar Sweet. The collection is set to release on March 19, 2009. This collection is sweet for a few different reasons.

First of all, the collection has shadesticks! If you’ve never had the chance to use a MAC shadestick, you are going to want to try one now. A shadestick is a smooth a rich eye shadow in the sleek format of a stick. It brings a whole new dimension to eye shadow application. I love the shadestick and I can’t wait to try the Red Velvet color.

The collection line also includes regular eye shadow, lipstick, tricolor lipglass, mascara, nail polish, mineralize skinfinish, and false eyelashes. It really is a pretty complete collection of everything you would need to create a finished look. I think one of the most intriguing things in the collection is the tricolor lipglass.

This lipglass isn’t just one tone, it includes three different colors. My first thought was that three colors might be too much, but then I thought of how many times MAC has presented something that didn’t look fantastic; it is definitely a rare occasion. I will wait until it comes out to make a final decision, but for now, I will continue to be intrigued. Everything that is rumored to be in the collection is listed below. If we learn of anything else, we will be sure to update the list.

This spring, M·A·C is all temptation… frostings, finishes, fillings. Each of them whipped, creamy, deliciously stylish, as inspired by the world’s most popular sugar-sweet desserts. Never has a season looked so eat-me-up gorgeous!

MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio to make the new Hello Kitty collections. The icon known worldwide will now grace MAC counters starting February 10th, 2009. (I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait!!) Whether you are in the mood to be playful, or in the mood to indulge your naughtier side, this collection has something for everyone.

The collection is quite large and offers two sides. Mild Kitty (aka the Hello Kitty Collection) and Wild Kitty (aka the Hello Kitty Kouture Collection) are what they have been affectionately named. I love it. Who doesn’t have the urge to cuddle up and be soft and sweet from time to time, while still having it in them to really go wild while out on the prowl?

There is so much that this collection has to offer. The Kitty Kouture collection is a higher-end collection. The prices are higher, but the glamour has been kicked up a notch as well. Dazzleglass and Sheer Mystery Powder are both offered in this collection in different shades. For the everyday user who prefers something a little simpler, the Hello Kitty Color collection has it all. It offers colors ranging from pinks and lavenders to turquoises and greens.

While I would usually consider myself more of a Hello Kitty mild kind of girl, the Kitty wild definitely merits a closer look. The packaging alone is just so fantastic. It’s complete with jewels, bright colors, and the Hello Kitty icon… very flashy! There are also plenty of Hello Kitty accessories offered, some of which are only available at maccosmetics.com. MAC: Lash and Dash Collection

Release Date: December 26th, 2008

MAC’s Lash and Dash collection is set to release on December 26th. This collection was formerly known as “Lash Sidebar”, but is officially launching with the name Lash and Dash. After seeing pictures of the lashes, I already know where some of my Christmas money will be spent! (Sigh..)

There is nothing like full, thick lashes to give personality to your eyes and really make them pop. With MAC’s Lash and Dash collection, there is something for everyone with options ranging from the natural lash look to the dramatic vampy look. Even if you don’t usually wear lash embellishments, once you see them, you will want to try them. These are going to be perfect for all those upcoming New Years Parties! :)

The collection contains six different kinds of lashes including two new introductions, 42 Lash and Blinking Cool!. 42 Lash has a design that is a dramatic diagonal edgy appearance for those interested in a harder theatrical look. The Blinking Cool! Lash is more delicate but still striking with lots of curl for a combination of flirtation and innocence. I think Blinking Cool! Will be a lot of fun, but I might just get the 7 Lash. Whatever your chosen style is, these lashes look like they will leave an impression.

The six brushes that are included in the collection are listed below. If we learn of any updates, we’ll be sure to let you know! Each set of lashes costs $12.00USD.

#2 Lash – Long and wispy. (Permanent)
#6 Lash – Long, full, spiky. (Permanent)
#7 Lash – Natural-style length. (Permanent)
#36 Lash – This full lash creates a naturally dramatic look. These are formerly known as the ‘Sultress Lash’ from the Icon: Racquel Collection. (Permanent)
#42 Lash – Set of synthetic hair lashes specifically fashioned for style and drama. Impeccably dense at the lash line, gradually lengthens into uneven array or wisps and clusters. (Limited Edition)
Blinking Cool! – A high style of set of natural lashes combing length and intensity with a lightly flirtatious non-conformist look. Lashes overlap and fan out to provide a flattering luxe-and-lush fringe. (Limited Edition)
